AXA employees attend the opening night gala of the 7th annual ReelAbilities: NY Disabilities Film Festival
Honor. Educate. Inspire. These words greeted guests entering Hangar 2 of the Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum, for the opening night gala of the 7th annual ReelAbilities: NY Disabilities Film Festival. AXA is a proud sponsor of the festival, along with AXA ABLE (Awareness of overcoming Barriers and creating a Lifestyle of Equality), an AXA employee resource group that is committed to fostering awareness of people with disabilities and special needs within the AXA communities in which we do business. This is AXA ABLE’s 4th year participating in the ReelAbilities Film Festival.
The ReelAbilities Film Festival is dedicated to promoting awareness and appreciation of the lives, stories, and artistic expressions of people with different disabilities. Hundreds of people gathered at the museum to celebrate, including Mark Pearson and many AXA employees. The event featured the NY premiere of the film “The Finishers” (“De Toutes Nos Forces”), a French drama directed by Nils Tavernier that tells the story of a disabled teen, Julien, and his dad, Paul (played by acclaimed French actor Jacques Gamblin), in their efforts to train for and compete in the “Ironman” triathlon together. Blessing Offer from the “The Voice” performed for the festival.
AXA Supports National Tour
A nationwide tour of the festival to 13 cities follows the New York launch through the remainder of 2015. As a regional sponsor, AXA participated in the ReelAbilities: Houston Disabilities Film Festival in February, and will take part in the Chicago festival (Sept. 10-13), and the New Jersey festival (Nov. 13-20).
