NEW YORK — AXA, a financial protection and retirement industry leader, announced today that it is an official sponsor of the 2016 ReelAbilities Film Festival, the largest film festival in the country dedicated to promoting awareness and appreciation of the lives, stories, and artistic expressions of people with disabilities.

The 8th Annual ReelAbilities: NY Disabilities Film Festival, presented by the Jewish Community Center (JCC) Manhattan, kicked off with an opening night gala on March 10.  Oscar nominee Mark Ruffalo provided opening remarks at the event, which featured the New York premiere of the award-winning film Margarita with a Straw.  The NY festival took place in a record number of venues from March 10-16, making it the most accessible film festival in the country.  For a flavor of the festival’s NY opening night, watch AXA’s highlight video

Next stop: Boston.  The 5th Annual Boston ReelAbilities Film Festival will take place in over 14 venues across Massachusetts, April 3-14.  The festival, co-presented by The Boston Jewish Film Festival, begins with a special event on April 3 at the Showcase Cinema Revere and an opening night event at Emerson College on April 4.  The festival offers a variety of compelling stories that cover a range of human experience.  View the Boston festival schedule for a full list of films and events.

ReelAbilities will continue its nationwide tour through the remainder of 2016.  As a national sponsor, AXA will take part in the Boston festival next week and the New Jersey festival in November.  

AXA ABLE, an AXA employee resource group, is committed to fostering awareness of people with disabilities and special needs within AXA and the communities in which we do business.  This will be AXA ABLE’s 7th year participating in the ReelAbilities Film Festival.
